Abby is 8 years old (will be 9 in September) and is a healthy, 12 lb Shih Tzu.  She is house-trained on puppy pads and lives in a home with 2 small children who adore her.  Unfortunately, one of the children has an allergy and we were told to find a new home for her.  She is shy and timid at first, but is cuddly once she gets to know you.  She is very quiet and rarely barks; she will usually only infrequently bark at certain unfamiliar people at the door (she usually just runs away because she is shy).  Her favorite activities are sitting on the top edge of the sofa at the window to people/animal watch, chasing after the kids outside, and getting scratched behind her ears.  She is shy around new dogs, but is playful with little dogs once she gets to know them (her best friend is another Shih Tzu at a cousin's house, and is okay with a Bichon at family's house; we're not sure how she would react to a big dog).  She roams the house when we are at home, but stays in her crate at nighttime and when we are out of the house (she usually goes there without us even asking when she senses us getting ready for bed or getting ready to leave the house).
